Feeling personally comfortable in your travel environment is key to fully enjoying your vacation. While some challenges and risks are a natural part of life, the more we feel in control of the variables and trust those around us, the more likely we will enjoy our adventure. Providing peace of mind in a post-C19 world is something we take seriously. Aside from our usual practice of avoiding crowds and getting off the beaten track, we are adopting enhanced measures so when you want to start traveling again, you can do so with confidence. Along with our risk-free FLEX Booking Conditions the initiatives listed below have been carefully crafted so you still get the ”Grasshopper Experience” guests expect, but with added peace of mind.
Travel with confidence

Bikes, helmets, kayaks, life vests and all the other equipment that makes your active adventure possible will be freshly sanitized daily, in addition to our regular maintenance and safety checks.
Small Groups
We have always provided and preferred the personal touch you get as part of a small group. Our group sizes are some of the best in the industry, so we haven’t needed to change anything there. You’ll never travel with more than 15 other guests on our bike tours and our bike & boat river cruise tours are capped at just 10 cabins, for a maximum of 20 like-minded explorers.
Hygiene Supplies
In addition to our normal supplies of drinks, snacks and sunscreen, guides and support vehicles now travel with all your hygiene needs at hand. Sanitizer is provided for each guest in pocket-sized refillable aluminum dispensers, which we’ll top up each day to use at your discretion. A reusable and rinsable facemask is also supplied to each guest, but you can also bring your own alternative face covering if you prefer.
Transfer Vehicles
Just like your equipment, our vans are cleaned and sanitized every morning and at key points during the day. All drivers are given a pre-tour temperature and symptom exam and daily temperature checks. Optional masks are also available for van travel.
Meal Hygiene
Family style dining is a big part of Asian culture so we will be retaining the spirit of that practice but improving it to reduce risk. Large plates of freshly cooked food will be presented on a separate serving table with a dedicated server to offer you as much, or as little, of each dish you desire.
Of course, family style dining is not standard on every meal, there are sometimes single dish meals and these will be served by the establishment in line with enhanced food safety protocols.
You can always opt out of a set meal and order directly to your room if you want some alone time. We’ve always accommodated these requests and now more than ever.
Private Rooms & Solo Travelers

Hotels and Partners
Operating in a region where the C19 situation has been well managed, we are thankful for the local, public health authorities guidelines that are being rolled out. As travel recommences, accommodation providers in most of our destinations are undergoing training on enhanced sanitization of linen, rooms and common spaces, as well as how their personnel should interact with guests.
Grasshopper Adventures are then overlaying that by ensuring any potential gaps in the local authorities efforts are covered with our own protocols. Some of the smaller properties with whom we operate have even had a visit from our team to work through these.
Monitoring & 24/7 Support
You want to enjoy a vacation without keeping one eye on local developments, so let our team look out for you. Our in-country teams are in the best possible position to monitor the situation on the ground both before and during your tour, and we’ll still be here after you’ve safely boarded a flight home.
We love to get off the beaten track and away from the overcrowded tourist hubs, but rest assured you are never far from your support team or a route to a major hospital. We have staff training and protocols in place for a broad range of scenarios, so you can relax and enjoy the moment as it should be, without disrupting your holiday experience.
And finally in addition to safety training and your care, our team also monitors their own health including daily temperature checks before and during tours. Any symptoms are reported early with a replacement arranged should the need arise.

While onboard the ship your cabins are cleaned and your meals are prepared by the same crew daily – trained to the same high standards as our Grasshopper teams. Open air, well-spaced, dining is the norm on the airy upper decks, where climate permits, and cabins are individually air conditioned as opposed to recirculated, closed-air systems. This environment gives us even more control over safety standards and best of all it’s a river ship, not an ocean liner, so you can step ashore daily with ease as fresh food & produce moves back the other way.
