Overview

On this multi-active adventure, we’re diving deep into Taiwan’s rugged coastlines, lush mountains, and tradition-steeped culture — one ride, hike, and bite at a time.

We’ll kick things off by cruising to the eastern edge of Taroko Gorge, where a grand memorial archway marks the entrance to this jaw-dropping marble chasm. From there, we’ll ride south on coastal roads that’ll make you want to pull over every five minutes for a photo and enjoy a hike through the East Rift Valley with views so good, they defy reality.

Of course, adventure works up an appetite — and Taiwan’s food scene never disappoints. We’re talking bowls of rich, slurp-worthy beef noodle soup, flaky scallion pancakes straight off the griddle, and the freshest seafood you can get. Along the way, we’ll sip fragrant oolong tea in the heart of Taiwan’s tea country and hunt down the best bubble tea (taste-testing required, obviously).

By the end of the day, you’ll find a cozy spot to kick back, maybe with a poolside cocktail in hand — because after all that pedaling, you deserve a little R&R! And with our expert Tour Leader guiding the way, you won’t just skim the surface of Taiwan — you’ll cycle, paddle, and feast your way through its hidden treasures. Ready to strap on your helmet?

What's the riding like?

This tour is Riding Level 4, which means you can expect to cycle an average of 40 mi (64 km) per day — and usually no more than 55 mi (88 km) — with occasional breaks to recharge. Expect some longer stretches and uphill climbs (up to 5,000 ft (1,524 m) a day), meaning you’ll need a good level of fitness if you’re on a standard bike.

In Taiwan, we’re in for a smooth ride as almost all the roads are paved. The terrain varies from gentle undulations along the East Coast and over the Coastal Mountain Range. We’ll mostly cycle along smaller roads and quiet country routes, covering roughly 219 mi (352 km) in total.

Need a boost? Upgrade to our pedal-assist e-bikes for $375.

And if your backside needs a break — or you just fancy a breather — our Rest & Ride Vehicle is always on standby.

What our Guests Say

Day to Day

Ni hao Grasshopper, welcome to Taiwan! Get ready to trade the buzz of the city for some serious adventure. We’ll meet up bright and early in Taipei, where you'll be greeted by your legendary Tour Leader and swap names with the small crew of Grasshoppers you’ll share the journey with (don’t worry, we won’t quiz you on names just yet!)

Hop on a train for one of the most scenic rides of your life — wind through mountains, coast along the Pacific Ocean, and arrive at the jaw-dropping Taroko Gorge. Whether it's kissed by sunlight or wrapped in mist, this marble canyon is as dramatic as they come (and it is *gorge*ous).

From the station, we’ll head for a delicious local lunch before checking in to our comfy oceanside digs for the night. After you’ve dropped your bags, we'll get kitted out with our trusty bikes for the week.

Geared-up? Let's go! We’ll start with a warm-up ride alongside the ocean. Tonight, a welcome dinner gives us the chance to get to know your group better.

Slurp up your coffee zǒu ba (let's go!) We’re kicking off the day bright and early with a ride to the eastern edge of Taroko Gorge. First stop: the Taroko Archway, your official welcome into this jaw-dropping marble canyon. Then, it’s over to the visitor center, where we’ll fuel up on coffee and get the lowdown on the people, landscapes, and wildlife that make this region SO special.

Once we roll out of the gorge, we’ll hit the Pacific Coast, trading the busy highways for narrow lanes flanked by banana palms and temples.

We’ll make beachside pit stops where the only decision we’ll need to make is whether to dip our toes in the ocean or snack on another local treat.

Lunch is served in the heart of Hualien, where you’ll have your pick of tasty set meals. Oh, and don’t be surprised if a robot rolls up to take your order.

Back on our trusty steeds for the last stretch — a loop ride into the East Rift Valley peppered with lush rice paddies and indigenous villages. Checked into our cozy rooms, the rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy! Relish the views, lounge by the pool, or take a stroll through the gardens. On the agenda tonight? A delicious dinner featuring fresh local ingredients — served with a side of good company and laid-back vibes. *bliss*

Rise and shine! After a hearty breakfast to fuel your day's adventure, it’s time to hop on your trusty steed (the two-wheeled kind, of course!) and set off through the East Rift Valley. This path is a cyclist's dream — a blissfully peaceful route where traffic is a distant memory and nature takes the spotlight as towering mountains hug us on both sides.

Our first stop? A community-run organic farm restaurant in an Amis village that treats the mountains and the sea as their pantry (a.k.a where we’ll dig into some seriously fresh farm-to-table goodness!)

Back on our bikes, we cruise through tropical fruit country, heading south to our resort in Ruisui. Soaking in bubbling hot springs, then enjoying a lip-smacking dinner is your mission for the evening!

This morning = ancient history (and a little bit of geography). We’re kicking things off with a cycle south towards Fuli. First up? The Saoba Monoliths, Taiwan’s mini version of Stonehenge! These ancient stones, believed to be placed by the indigenous Puyuma people, have been standing tall for centuries, holding onto their secrets. Some say they were used for ceremonies, others think they’re simply a tribute to nature’s power. Either way, no one really knows how or why they were built — making it the perfect stop for a few wild theories!

Next, we’re off to the Tropic of Cancer Monument—the line that marks the northernmost point where the sun sits directly overhead at noon. Cross this line, and you’re officially in the tropics! From here on out, expect warmer breezes, lusher landscapes, and that “holiday mode” feeling kicking in.

After all that geographical greatness, it’s time to treat ourselves to a well-deserved cuppa’ at a tea farm in Wuhe. Surrounded by rolling hills of green, we’ll dive into a tea tasting of Taiwan’s finest brews, the kind that hits all the right notes — warm, aromatic, and smooth, like a cozy blanket for your taste buds. Back on our bikes, we're cruising into our lunch stop at a local restaurant for some lip-smacking dumplings.

Our final destination? A charming spot with stunning mountain vistas. Relax, unwind, and soak in the sweeping views.

Today, we’re swapping the East Rift Valley for the lush, monkey-filled roads of the Coastal Mountain Range. We’ll cruise through this tropical paradise, winding our way southeast toward the coast, hitting one of Taiwan’s most jaw-droppingly beautiful stretches — it’s so stunning, it’s often compared to Hawaii!

Worked up an appetite? Good! Our Tour Leader will reach into their pocket for a light lunch — delicious local baozi (steamed buns that are soft, fluffy, and filled with flavor) before we continue our journey south to the laid-back surf village of Dulan. But hold up — Dulan isn’t just for surfers! It’s also a hotbed for indigenous art, with music, painting, and sculpture making waves in the community. We’ll explore the creative pulse of the village in the warehouse galleries surrounding the iconic old Sugar Factory, where the magic happens.

In the afternoon, chill in the garden, enjoy some alone time with an ice-cold Taiwan Beer, or maybe play Rummy a little too competitively before we head out for dinner at a local restaurant.

Rise and shine, it’s time to make some waves! We’re kicking off the day with a sunrise SUP session in Donghe River Gorge. Picture this: paddling through the emerald-green waters, with towering white boulders and a jungle backdrop that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a nature-filled adventure movie.

After that peaceful paddle, the rest of the day is yours to chill. Hit the beach for some well-deserved relaxation, catch some waves, go on a hike, or just find a shady spot, crack open a book, and make like you’re in a travel ad. Whatever feels right — you’re in Dulan, where time moves at its own pace.

And when the hunger hits, Dulan is here to deliver! From Taiwanese and indigenous dishes to global flavors (hello Italian, Spanish, Vietnamese and even Fish n’ Chips!), you’re in for a treat. Luckily for us, it’s Saturday night — which means we might just catch some live tunes!

Pack your sunscreen and stretch those legs — we’ve got an epic final day ahead! This morning, we hop in the R&R van for a scenic drive along the coastal highway to Shouka. Then, back on our bikes, prepare to ride through the lush hills of the Hengchun Peninsula, a route full of jungle vibes and indigenous villages, before heading down to the coast for a well-deserved seafood lunch.

Once we’re fueled up, we cruise along one of Taiwan’s most stunning coastal routes, where the road hugs the ocean, and we pass wind-swept beaches, old military bases, and jungle hills. Talking about hills, we’ve got two sweet hill climbs to work off that seafood feast!

We finish our ride in Kenting, Taiwan’s tropical playground. Now, here comes the fun part: It’s time to wrap up this incredible adventure with a farewell dinner, then we hit the streets to stroll through Kenting Night Market. Will you grab deep-fried ice cream? Maybe fresh tropical fruit? Or perhaps a bubble tea? Whatever it is, we dare you not to go back for seconds!

Meals
Meal: B

Wait, is it really the last day? Say it ain’t so!

This morning is yours to squeeze every last drop out of Kenting’s tropical goodness. Want to hit the beach one last time? Go for it. Prefer to rent a scooter and zip around like a local? Absolutely. Or maybe you just want to sip a coconut under a palm tree and pretend time doesn’t exist. No wrong answers here.

At noon, we roll out with a group transfer back to Kaohsiung International Airport or the High-Speed Rail Station. And just like that, our adventure comes to an end (cue dramatic sunset music). Then *sob* say zàijiàn (goodbye) to your terrific Tour Leader and top-notch cycling crew. Or maybe it’s until we meet again.
