Day to Day

Once you arrive in bustling Bangkok, a Grasshopper Self-guided representative will meet with you before commencing your tour. The rep will deliver your equipment, conduct a briefing on the road and travel conditions in Thailand and explain how to use the technology provided. You will then travel by train to Hua Hin, a charming seaside resort town about 3.5 hours away. From there you can take a warm-up ride inland along secondary roads and get comfortable with your provided bike.

Departing from Hua Hin in the morning, you will ride along predominantly flat terrain through beautiful stretches of road with limestone karsts off to your right and the sea to your left, concluding in in Prachuap Khiri Khan. Home to a Royal Thai Air Force base that was invaded by the Japanese in WWII, Prachuap Khiri Khan is now better known for the "monkey temple", Wat Thammikaram, which houses hundreds of playful Langur Monkeys. Many locals visit the temple to feed the monkeys and it provides excellent views of the surrounding bay and countryside.

The riding today features lots of turns and a variety of roads, making for an interesting day on the bike. Along the way you will have an opportunity to see the Thai fishing operation in full swing, as the colourful wooden boats are unloaded and the catch is sorted and transferred. There’s plenty of riding along the coastline today and along back-roads, with just a short section on the highway. Ban Krut is a lovely little beachside town with just a handful of hotels and guesthouses where you can stop for lunch. You will then ride some low hills through rubber plantations to Chumphon, checking in at a charmingly secluded resort for the evening.

All good rides need a rest day and your resort will offer a chance for rest and rejuvenation with a scenic ocean view. Should you wish to stay busy, there are also plenty of activities for your enjoyment, such as golfing, snorkeling and diving.

Riding:
117km

Today is a longer day of travel and you'll start your ride after a transfer of about 2.5 hours to the port town of Surat Thani. The riding will be quite different to what you have experienced thus far. You’ll start out through a busy stretch before you return to quiet roads, heading up some moderately hilly terrain into plantation territory before you reach the edge of Khao Sok National Park. You’ll pass the sluice gates of the Ratchaprapa Dam and then continue towards the Anurak Community Lodge, on the outskirts of the Khao Sok National Park.

Riding:
105km
Meal:

The first part of today's ride continues through Khao Sok National Park, through rolling hills and winding road. About halfway, you’ll reach the coast again meaning you have successfully ridden coast-to-coast from the Gulf Of Thailand to the Andaman Sea. From here onwards the main road is the only option, so whilst the quality of the tarmac is very good you will have some competition for it. Nonetheless you can expect to conclude your second last riding day on the beaches of a lovely resort.

This morning you can relax and enjoy breakfast with sea views from our destination hotel. We can recommend an elegant resort away from the busy tourist areas, or assist with further transport bookings if required.
