We are confident that you will find the accommodation on tour a highlight of your trip. In the larger towns and tourist centres where the tourism infrastructure is well developed we use a range of supremely comfortable and stylish hotels, in the 3 to 5 star range. In out of the way places, as the nature of these areas dictates, we use the best available accommodation which is always clean and comes with air-conditioning or fan (depending on what the temperature requires) and attached bathroom.
Please note that, while we endeavour to use the hotels listed below, occasionally for reasons of availability, we are required to book alternative accommodation. In such cases the hotel provided will be of an equal or higher standard than the one we usually use.
Victoria Xiengthong Palace
Set on the banks of the Mekong river, a stone's throw away from Wat Xieng Thong, the Victoria Xiengthong Palace is the beautifully restored last residence of the Laos Royal Family. With 26 spacious and elegant rooms, decorated using local materials and fabrics throughout, the hotel offers a high level of comfort and class. Few of the hotels in the UNESCO listed Old Town have pools due to building restrictions, however, the hotel does have a spa where you can soothe those tired muscles.
The 3 Nagas is a charming boutique hotel located in the heart of Luang Prabang's Old Town. With only 15 rooms located in 3 restored old houses, the hotel blends contemporary style with traditional architecture all set around a lovely courtyard garden. The award winning restaurant, fleet of vintage cars and serene atmosphere make this an excellent choice of accommodation.
Situated just a few minutes walk from Luang Prabang's Old Town, Villa Maly is an exquisite luxury boutique hotel. Built by one of the king's grandsons the hotel has a distinct Art Deco style, with a blend of colonial furnishings. Facilities include a swimming pool, spa, restaurant and bar.
A delightful boutique hotel located in the heart of Vientiane and just a short stroll from the Mekong River, Ansara has just 28 rooms and suites, set in a collection of buildings surrounding a swimming pool and garden. Dining options include an indoor air-conditioned restaurant and an outside roofed terrace.
Phonsavan (Plain of Jars)
Vansana Plain of Jars
The best hotel in Phonsavan, the Vansana Plain of Jars is a small property, set on a hill in the centre of town with views over the city and surrounding countryside. The simple but comfortable rooms have piping hot water (which you will be grateful for in chilly Phonsavan!) and free wi-fi. The hotel has an attached restaurant.
Riverside Boutique Resort
Set on the banks of the Nam Song River, the multi-award winning Riverside Boutique Resort is a luxury hotel with charm and character. 34 rooms, all with balcony or terrace, are set around an inviting swimming pool, from where stunning views of the karst mountains for which Vang Vieng is famous can be enjoyed.
Nong Kiau Riverside
While the accommodations are simple at Nong Kiaw Riverside the views are to die for at this collection of bungalows situated on the banks of the Nam Ou river. With only 15 bungalows this is a peaceful place, where the highlight of the day is watching the sun go down over the river and landscape of limestone karst mountains that line its banks.
With a riverside location overlooking the Mekong, Pakbeng Lodge is an unexpected delight in a location that was, until fairly recently, completely off the beaten track. Decorated with bamboo and Hmong artwork, the comfortable rooms have beautiful wooden floors and private balcony from where you can watch the sun set behind the forested hills. The hotel has a restaurant and bar.
