The tour will depart at 07:30am. We will board our private, air-conditioned van for the 80km ride to the Delta. Don't forget, bring your camera, sunscreen and comfortable clothing for biking.

Cycling Farm to Table Lunch, Local Ferry Boats
On arrival in the Mekong Delta the bikes will be set-up as you enjoy coffee or tea at a small village cafe. When the bikes are ready, we are off riding through stunning countryside on paved rural roads, past countless rice paddies, vegetable farms and orchards full of locally grown fruit.

The Mekong is Vietnam's most abundant agricultural region and it's also home to local artisans and weavers. We'll stop at a small shop to see traditional woven mats and visit a nearby cocoa plantation. The chocolate in this region is world renowned (in fact you can read about it in this interesting 2016 New York Times Style Magazine article).

As we head further south along concrete canal paths, the vegetation grows more dense and the streams start to look more like the larger tributaries of the Mekong. We will visit a busy marketplace without the crush of tourists, as well as many other surprise stops along the route.

Lunch will be served in a private home outside the village, with foods sourced from the nearby fresh food marketplace.

The day concludes with a private boat transfer along one of the region's beautiful waterways.

What's the Riding Like?

Flat terrain

25km riding

We cycle mostly on flat concrete paths and small paved, rural roads. There are a few short sections on loose gravel and sand. These can be walked if you’re not comfortable. Anyone who is in reasonable physical condition and who can ride a bike for 20 minutes without a stop will enjoy this ride. There are 6 full sightseeing stops during the tour which breaks the ride into smaller sections.

What our guests tell us...

Just a selection of our great reviews!

My husband and I had a super day cycling trip to the Mekong Delta led by Dat that provided us with an excellent introduction to the beautiful scenery and people of this region. We had the opportunity to stop at a coffee bean farm, a mat factory and drink coconut milk fresh from the trees,, The lunch at a local home was delicious and the boat ride on the Mekong River very enjoyable.
We would highly recommend Grasshopper Tour of the Mekong Delta as a side trip from Ho Chi Minh City. The day was very well organized and the bikes were well-maintained and easy to ride.

Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed this! We had a great guide, Tinh. He was very informative and shared lots of useful info with us. Service was great, bikes were good, helmets were clean and the whole experience was wonderful. Highly recommended.

misterkhimDecember 2018

I really enjoy cycling tours, and this one was really great. Our guides pointed out lots of great information along the ride into the delta area. The ride was mostly on quiet roads. Food was excellent and guides made sure we always had water. I would have preferred a little more riding after lunch, I could have done without the market tour part of things. Highly suggest this trip!

Beth F January 2019

This was a brilliant way to see the Delta. We all loved it. Cycling was not too demanding and our fantastic guide Dinh made it really interesting. Lunch was delicious and to end with a boat trip was just great.

FlindersFamily1 February 2019

We had the pleasure of having Tinh as our guide and the wonderful support crew from Grasshopper Adventures for our Mekong Adventures. Great experience for the whole family.
