Bhutan By Bike
The remote and little-visited Kingdom of Bhutan offers a unique destination for bicycle touring, with challenging rides, stunning nature, and a one-of-a-kind story. Bhutan has long restricted its numbers of visitors in order to preserve its culture and encourage sustainable tourism, this has made the country much of a mystery to outsiders and so makes for an exciting destination to explore. Join us for a Bhutan cycling tour to experience the country of Gross National Happiness.

Cycle over the Dochula Pass and through the ecological hotspot of the Gangtey valley on challenging bike routes.

Trek through the Gangtey nature trail or hike up to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery.

Visit incredible Bhutanese fortresses called Dzong and a host of other sacred Buddhist sites.

Enjoy quality accommodation, like the historic Palace Hotel in Paro, an actual converted palace!

Bhutan Experts

Our small but committed team in Bhutan is lead by Tshering Dorji, who quit a high profile construction business 20 years ago to follow his dream of working in tourism. Very much a people person, Tshering is a meticulous organizer, but his talents don't end there; he is also a mountain biker, thrill seeker, mountain guide, keen photographer, aspiring writer, amateur league soccer player and repository of Bhutanese folklore, culture & history!
Tshering is accompanied by Tandin Dorji, who has been with Grasshopper from the start of our Bhutanese operations and did many of the original research trips to put together our tours. Tandin takes great pride in his work and his country, which shines through in everything he does. Very popular with our guests, Tandin is described by Tshering as "the lubricant of the well-oiled Grasshopper apparatus". A great credit to his country and a great asset for Grasshopper.
