Multi-Active Tours in Australia
A bike tour or multi-active tour in Australia is an opportunity to experience the natural essence of this incredible country. Australia to us is a place where the best active adventures are compact, where covering less ground on tour allows us to slow down, take a closer look at an area, immerse ourselves in the natural environment and breathe fresh air away from major centers. These are places where you can find untold stories, where masters in their chosen craft are just waiting to be found and every day presents a special experience.
As we venture into Australia, with the knowledge from our Australian team and guests, we have selected two key locations to tour, Tasmania and the Noosa & Hinterland areas, these trips offer an insight into two beautiful landscapes with distinct cultures.
Bike tour traffic-free roads and rail trails through landscapes almost too beautiful to be real. Take it at your own pace with support on hand.
Kayak stunning, sheltered coastal waters in Tasmania, picturesque creeks in southeast Queensland and one of only two Everglades systems in the world near Noosa.
Hike the trails of the Tasman Peninsula and the Bunya Mountains and learn about the huge aboriginal corroborees that were held at the latter in years gone by.
Hear from experts on topics ranging from wetlands ecosystems to organic farming, to cold climate wines and understand how these people chose to master the knowledge.

Enjoy the outdoors, many ways
Even with all its great biking, Australia is a land of great distances. Sometimes, it makes more sense to stay in a more compact area and engage in more activities. That’s why we have focused on introducing a range of activities into our Australia itineraries, such as hiking and kayaking, always in a safe environment and always seeking out the very best of both in any given area. We do this to deliberately reduce the amount of vehicle transfer time and minimise the number of times that you have to unpack and repack on each tour.

Planned with the Seasons
All our tours are scheduled to enjoy optimal weather, and that is important in a place like Australia with infamous extremes. In the cooler months, head for Queensland where mild weather awaits. In summer, Tasmania offers a lovely respite from the heat, with clear, crisp air and opportunities for a fresh ocean dip.
The Rewards of Touring Australia
Australians as a people are never short of a good story and we actively seek out a colorful collection of personalities to share theirs. Beyond this, the land itself and the ecosystems tell some of the best stories and we have connected with specialists in this field to bring you insights into these natural wonders.
Multi-Active Touring in Australia
Australia actually has an abundance of great biking, you just have to know where to find it. We ride on beautiful roads and trails through nature, away from built-up areas. We are on minor country roads or on car-free bikeways and rail trails. Even on the country roads, you may see a car only a few times each hour. This allows you to appreciate the subtlety of the landscapes and to listen out and look for birds and other wildlife.

Meet Our Team
The Grasshopper Adventures, Australia Collection was designed by Grasshopper Owner & Chief, Adam Platt-Hepworth. The proverb absence makes the heart grow fonder could easily be applied to Adam and his original homeland of Australia where he grew up in the Blue Mountains. Having now spent 15+ years living abroad, the opportunity to research and design a set of tours in places where Adam spent time in his youth has been a delight. He augmented his knowledge with a huge number of suggestions from our guests and has synthesized it all into an initially narrow range of highly enjoyable, active adventures. There is so much material, based on so many snippets and suggestions, that we could literally create 50 more tours, but we know from experience, that less is more when introducing a new tour range. Asked which of the tours Adam is most eager to get out on; “It has to be Tasmania! There is no other single place in the world that I so enthusiastically wish to return to when time permits. Particularly the hiking and paddling along that most dramatic of coastlines”.
Adam and the team have now spent countless hours researching the many elements of the tours and speaking with local experts. So much so, that even our colleagues who have never set foot in either Queensland or Tasmania almost feel like they have. Maybe one day they will get to!
