This is where it all began! Bangkok was the site of our first permanent base and it's amazing how far we've come from our humble beginnings running tours out of a little wooden house on the streets of Bangkok. Our team in Bangkok now numbers over 20 with a fleet of 100+ bikes, all ready to take you on an unforgettable adventure. The quaint lanes and alleys of this colorful city are traffic free and an absolute joy to explore, it’s what inspired us to start the day-tour side of Grasshopper Adventures.
Chiang Mai the Rose of the North! From our centrally located shop, in the Old City of the ancient Kingdom of Chiang Mai, venture out to explore the wonders of this fabled town. Our team of expertly trained local guides take great pride in showing our guests the unique culture and traditions of Northern Thailand. We might be a little biased but we certainly think that the best way to discover Chiang Mai is seated on a bike. Choose from city tours, food tours or tours of the countryside to make your visit to Chiang Mai complete - The team is waiting for you!
Our Inle Lake shop in the cozy little town of Nyaung Shwe has been open for several years, but is the youngest addition to our day tour locations and already a favorite of many guests. At first, the team here barely knew how to cycle, now they cannot get enough of it! We were drawn to Inle Lake because of the fantastic opportunities for two-wheeled exploring the surrounding countryside, mountains and lake offer. These are some of our most adventurous day tours, taking you to truly hidden locations that no other visitors see, and the variety in each tour offers a satisfying day of cultural exploration, enjoyment & memories. Make sure to pay our friendly team a visit before this hidden gem gets too popular!
Amazing Bagan! We cannot imagine any location more fascinating for a bike ride than among the ancient temples of Bagan's famous plains. Whether you want to be enchanted by the architectural wonders, see the sunset on the Irrawaddy or prefer to discover authentic village life, our team knows all the secrets of Bagan. You’ll find our shop located in a quiet section of New Bagan, where our small team is waiting for you with a big smile, ready to share their passion for this mystic place. No trip to Bagan should be considered complete without a dose of two-wheeled exploration, and we have the perfect tours to get you off the beaten path.
Where else could have been a better location for our first shop in Myanmar! - This famous city echo’s in many stories and songs, the phrase “On the road to Mandalay” evokes lines from Rudyard Kiplings1980’s classic poem, to novels and film and even more contemporary music, with Robbie Williams 2000 hit of the same name. With such a storied history it’s no surprise that there is also plenty to explore. The core of our Myanmar operations team is based here, so in many ways it is the heart of our three in-country locations. Mandalay itself has become an important trade hub and is slowly evolving into a bustling Southeast Asian city, but even with this steady growth, it is still surrounded by beautiful green countryside which is the perfect setting for our cycling tours.
You'll find our Hoi An shop nestled away down one of the heritage town's quaint little side streets. It's an inviting space, and that's a good analogy for our team there, who are more like a small family, greeting you with smiles when you drop by. We're fortunate to be in such a wonderful location, as Hoi An offers fantastic opportunities for experiential adventure and cultural immersion. The town's surrounding inhabitants have nurtured their unique heritage and preserved many classic trades & handicrafts that have faded out in other regions of the country, yet made it one of our favorite locations in Vietnam.
One look at the buzzing streets of Saigon and you'd think we're insane to open a bike touring shop here, and while tackling the scooter frenzy of the city would be a thrill it's not most peoples idea of a fun day. The real magic lies beyond the city limits and that's where we take you, by van or boat, before exploring the blissful (traffic free) lanes and canals of the Mekong Delta region by bike. Our Saigon team are a spirited bunch, who regularly band together to participate in local sporting events such as marathons, triathlons and bike competitions, providing inspiration for the entire Grasshopper family.
This small team thrive off crafting unique tours in the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh. Hard work and passion are always elements the team bring to the table as they ride the waves of business in the city that is constantly changing. Being the main cycling tour company in Phnom Penh, our team is proud to maintain an extremely high standard of service which is reflected in our wonderful feedback. Our tours here offer a chance for our customers to experience a completely different side to Phnom Penh, as we take them into the lesser visited rural sites of Cambodia's capital city.
Our Siem Reap team offers an abundance of personalities that have originated from diverse backgrounds to form a close-knit company. With an environment which fosters growth and development, we have had a few of the team rise through the ranks and take on roles they never thought possible. The Siem Reap family feeds off the passion they have for the country they live in and for high-quality customer service, as they all know that visiting Angkor is often a once in a lifetime experience for guests. With new ideas encouraged and developed all the time, you can be sure that team Siem Reap have your visit to the city as their top priority.
Grasshopper Adventures was founded in a small wooden house in the backpacker area of Bangkok in 2004.
Back then we thought we were here to lead cycling enthusiasts on epic rides of 2+ weeks. Well, in some ways we were, but the massive growth in our business has come from people just like you. People who want to see a city or a town by a fun, active, engaging means and meet some great people along the way. People who want to get under the skin of a place they are visiting, and learn the human story, not just the factual, monument focused side of it.
We a high priority on creating those genuine connections for you. That is what we do on our handcrafted day tours. We introduce you to the people, the environment, the food and the popular culture of the location and we do that all in as little as four hours.
We pay a lot of attention to the details so that you don’t waste any of your valuable vacation time with equipment or organization problems. We time the trips realistically and we carefully plan for efficiency so that we make the most of every minute in your day tour.
We believe and we hope that you will come away from one of our day tours with a different perspective on a place. That you may even experience a transformation in your view of a city a location or a people by doing a tour. Not to mention, that once you’ve done one, you’ll want to do them all.
We sum it up in three words. Escape, Explore, Connect.
Have a great day out!
