Meet 9:15 am at Grasshopper Adventures Siem Reap Shop and the tour starts at 9:30 am.

As we make our way to the temple complex in Grasshopper's own biofuel-powered van (made from used cooking oil from the local community) your guide will give you an explanation of the action-packed day ahead. Going via the ticket office, you will arrive at the launching place for your day of adventure - Grasshoppers jungle bungalow. Stock up on water, electrolytes and a few snacks before we head off into the forest. We quickly venture off the main road and head into the Angkor park from the Western part of what has famously become known as the ‘Big Loop’. Using jungle tracks wherever possible, this tour is all about keeping us away from the crowds and connecting with the hidden stories of the lesser-known, yet equally breathtaking temples.

We make our way throughout the day to 3 key temples: Preah Khan, Ta Nei and East Mebon, exploring many other jungle ruins along the way. All of the temples carry their own unique tales from centuries gone by. Exploring the lesser visited sites gives us the opportunity to spread our support to a wider network of vendors, enjoying a packed lunch along the way picnic style with one of our favorite families in the area.

The last stop of the day is the local pagoda in the village of Preah Dak on the outskirts of the Angkor Park. We stop here as we work alongside a community development initiative and participate in tree planting in the area. Planting carefully and purposely alongside our village partners sets the tone for the day - positive impact travel. You will also get the chance to learn about the process of becoming a monk and the interesting rules that each monk has to adhere to.
