What pairs better with an active holiday than a wine tasting? You may be surprised that such a hot and humid climate produces delicious wine, but once you have a sip you’ll happily get over the initial shock.
Monsoon Valley is located in the picturesque countryside of Southern Thailand, and features medium-bodied, fruit-forward wines that are the perfect post-ride indulgence. Sample shiraz and colombard as you learn more about the tropical wine making process.
Hike Sam Roi Yot
Sam Roi Yot National Park in Prachuap Khiri Khan province is home to Thailand’s biggest freshwater wetlands. In the park, mountains line the horizon and colorful birds flit through the trees. One of Sam Roi Yot’s biggest draws is Phraya Nakhon Cave, a sacred site that features a Buddhist shrine in the glow of sunlight that filters through a perfectly positioned hole in a cliff. Hiking from the beach up through the jungle to the cave makes the experience even more magical.
Cycle the Coast
Perhaps the most unforgettable way to get the full Southern Thailand experience is from the seat of a bicycle. When you hop on a bike, you get to explore at a pace that is both slow enough to allow for open-mouthed gazing and fast enough to cover some ground.
There are hills in the south of Thailand, but nothing too strenuous. The riding in this part of the country features plenty of smooth, winding streets and backroads through villages and lush jungle to keep you entertained. Pedal through fruit and rubber plantations by the southern beaches, or approach Prachuap Khiri Khan on a bicycle, where you’re greeted by dramatic limestone karsts and the wide-open expanse of sea. Cycling is the ideal way to incorporate movement into your days as you explore the wonders of Southern Thailand!
