Our two-night Taipei Explorer tour extension provides a snapshot of this incredible diversity, from night markets and riverside bike rides to hiking amidst volcanic fumaroles. The tour extension is designed to run immediately prior to your longer Taiwan ride, but could also be tagged on to the end of your trip.

Welcome to Taipei & Ride to Danshui
20km Cycling
Our comfortable and centrally located hotel for this tour extension is less than an hour’s drive from the airport. Once you’ve arrived and are settled in, it’s time for introductions to your guide and fellow travelers, before heading out for a leisurely ride.
We’ll ride local bikes along a riverside bike path that cuts its way through the heart of the capital to the old trading harbor at Danshui, now a popular escape from the city. Once there we’ll have the chance to stroll along the river and soak up the atmosphere, passing the historic Fort San Domingo and enjoying a first-rate dinner before returning to the city.

Hike Yangmingshan & Taipei by Night
This morning we’ll start with a visit to the iconic and imposing Chiang Kaishek Memorial where we can witness the impressive changing of the guard ceremony. From here we’ll leave the skyscrapers of Taipei behind and head for a hike amidst the volcanic craters and steaming sulfurous fumaroles of Yangmingshan National Park. After an active morning, we’ll take some lunch and then it’s time for a well-earned mineral hot spring soak before returning to the city.
The rest of the afternoon is free to relax or spend as you wish. We’ll re-group in the evening to explore Taipei by night, wandering along atmospheric old Dihua Street for some shopping and dinner before moving to one of the city’s famous night markets. Here we will sample the culinary delights on offer and round the evening off with a beer or two.

Extension Concludes (& Your Bike Tour Begins!)
Your tour extension ends after breakfast this morning. If you have opted for the pre-tour extension then you will be joining the longer trip today and will meet your leader in the lobby at a pre-designated time, ready to check out and head for the train station. If you opted to take this as a post-tour extension then your leader can assist with arranging a taxi to the airport or other destination.

This tour extension comes with all inclusions outlined above and is designed as an extension option for our longer tours in Taiwan.
*The extension package is priced at US$790 p.p twin share and is based on a minimum group size of 4 people.
For smaller groups the following surcharges apply:
- 2-3 People: A $200 surcharge per person applies
- 1 Person: It is not possible to take this tour as a solo traveler
If guests would like a private single room there is an additional $200 single supplement per private room.
