Unicycle Laos
After a successful 500km pedal through Vietnam and Cambodia Ken
Looi is looking for his next unicycling challenge in Asia. What
is believed to be the first ever unicycle tour of Laos, a group
of intrepid one wheelers will ride their way from Luang Prabang
to Vientiane - one of South East Asia's most dramtic roads. Think
you can do it? Get training, but worry not - this is a fully supported
tour.
Please note: this tour is currently only open to unicyclists -
should there be space available for bicyclists we will let you know.

Days 1 Chiang Rai: On Day 1 people will be arriving throughout
the day so the day is free to explore the sights of this cool town.
We'll meet in the evening for a trip meeting and head out for our
first dinner together.
Day 2 Huey Xai: Setting out in the morning we drive to the
Lao border and cross into the small town of Huey Xai. We will take
to the unicycles for our first ride in Laos.
Days 3-4 Mekong River: We spend two days travelling down
the wonderful Mekong River, over nighting in Pak Beng. On Day 5
we will stop at the Buddhist caves at Pak Ou before arriving into
Luang Prabang in the late afternoon.

Days 5-6 Luang Prabang: You won't
want to leave this charming town. Our first day will be spent on a
ride to the beautiful Kuang Sii Waterfall. On the second day we will
explore the local region and a waterfall. The afternoons are yours
to wander the temples, visit the King's Palace or just relax.
Day 7-10 To Vang Vieng: We depart Luang Prabang and take three
days to cycle to the travellers town of Vang Vieng. The first day
is the most challenging as we climb up into the mountains but the
rewards are unforgettable, mountains all around with small villages
clinging to their sides. In Vang Vieng we will have a rest day.
Days 11-12 To Vientiane: Back on the unicycles we ride for
two more days to the capital city, Vientiane, probably the quietest
city in Asia. The trip will finish on the afternoon of day 12. |
Style: Fully supported unicycling.
Includes: support vehicle, Mekong boat trip, local guide, tour
leader, most meals, entry fees.
Group Size: Minimum 6, maximum 24.
Accommodation: 4 nights comfortable hotel, 7 nights local guesthouse.

Cycling Conditions: We cycle on the well made main highway
most of the way but traffic in Laos is very light. The first two days
are quite challenging but the following days tend downhill.
