Wild Mongolia

Bike tour in Mongolia | 15 days ex Ulaan Baatar | US$2,750
grasslands mountain biking - Gobi Desert - ger Camps - Karakorum

The wilds of Mongolia have always sent out a call to those with an adventurous spirit. One of the true travelling frontiers, Mongolia offers an incredible experience for the cyclist. This tour will take you into the heart of Mongolia and meet its nomadic peoples.

Not only will you cycle through a diversity of landscapes, including the mountains of the Arkhanghai, lush green grasslands, pine forests and the spectacular Orkhon Falls; you will see a diverse array of wildlife including birds of prey, cattle, Yaks, gophers and the pride of many Mongolians, the horse. The sheer adventure of it all makes this trip one of our favourites!

Itinerary
Days 1-2 | Ulaan Baatar
After arriving in Ulaan Baatar you will meet the rest of the group and have some free time to explore the city.
Days 3-4 | Bayanhongor
Two long days of driving are a great introduction to the Mongolian countryside. On arrival in Bayanhongor you'll meet the local crew, campsite and bikes in prepartion for the cycling adventure ahead.
Days 5-9 | Cycling to Tsetserleg
From your first moments on the bike you'll know you're in wild Mongolia. Following rivers and climbing mountain passes you'll pass the 'ger' settlements of nomadic herders, camp under the stars and ride some fantastic mountain biking trails. On day 9 we'll camp on the edge of Tsetserleg and visit the town for a touch of civilisation and to visit the town sites.
Days 10-13 | Cycling to Karakorum
We continue our journey through the dramatic Mongolian landscape. On the night of day 11 we camp by a refreshing waterfall and finally on day 13 you will reach the end of the ride at Kharkhorin, an ancient capital of the Mongolian Empire.
Days 14-15 | Ulaan Baatar
It is a long drive back to Ulaan Baatar, plenty of time to reflect on the remote and vast landscape you have just cycled through.
